The TS Ranch is offering a super set of weaned calves
again this year.
On
the TS Ranch, we specialize in producing and marketing healthy, high quality
weaned calves with lots of performance and carcass quality.
Our cows calve outside, unassisted, in big pastures where
they are free of sickness and disease. They begin calving around March 1st .
Most calve during the first forty-five days of the breeding season. The cows in
our Brahman Cross Program calve one heat cycle behind the rest of the cowherd.
This allows us to get them moved a longer distance to their summer country,
without dropping calves on the way. Our First Calf Heifers begin calving around
February 15th, and are calved in close, where they can be more easily
monitored.
The TS Ranch Weaning and Warm-Up Program is designed to
develop healthy, vigorous, problem free calves, with good appetites. We follow
BQA guidelines and use only high quality name brand pharmaceutical products .
All TS calves offered are "Born and Raised in the U.S.A." qualified.

At spring branding, we vaccinate our calves for Blackleg
with Vision 7 w/ SPUR and for IBR, BVD (Type 1 & 2 ) PI3
& BRSV with Bovi-Shield Gold 5 (Modified Live).
At weaning, they receive a Vision 7
w/ SPUR and Bovi-Shield Gold 5 booster vaccination. We also give them a
shot of Vitamin A & D and treat them for parasites with Ivermax
pour-on. All of our heifer calves are Bangs vaccinated before they are
nine months old. This year, to promote growth and muscle development rather
than fat, we have implanted our steer calves with Ralgro at
weaning rather than at branding. The buyer may easily stack his own implant
progrm onto this initial treatment to further promote this growing-out
process.
After our calves have been weaned, weighed and processed,
we place them on a growing ration consisting of 50% alfalfa, 20% Soy Hulls, 20%
corn and 10% molasses. As the calves begin to flesh up, the percentage of corn
is reduced and the alfalfa is increased, to prevent them from becoming too
fleshy.
When the calves are settled in and eating well, we sort
them into contemporary groups for sex, size and class. They are weighed again
and resorted into load lots for a projected December 15th delivery.
By the time the calves have completed the TS Weaning &
Warm-Up Program (Bovine Boot Camp)
they will have been processed, sorted & resorted, weighed & reweighed,
and again sorted and weighed. They will be used to being handled on foot and
horseback. Theyll be easy to cut out and move freely and quietly, without
fear and undue stress. They will have been weaned between 60 to 70 days by
shipping time, be in excellent health, bunk broke and have vigorous appetites.
The heavier calves can go into a feedlot without missing a beat. The lighter
calves can make a stress free transition go back to grass or wheat pasture.
